Samsung starts gaining attention from the Americans thanks to the new advertising campaign

For several weeks days Samsung runs in the U.S. an advertising campaign that takes into laughter the iPhones owners. Samsung promotes their devices and presents the current iPhone functions as inferior to those available in the Galaxy series.

Although Samsung was initially subjected to a wave of criticism, the reality is a little different because Americans begin to take seriously the Samsung brand and the device of companies generates more buzz than iPhones from the American continent.

Starting around Nov. 28 — six days after Samsung began airing its Galaxy Nexus ads mocking Apple’s (AAPL) customer base (see here) — the Korean conglomerate’s “buzz” started rising and the iPhone’s drifting down. And on Wednesday, according to a press release issued by YouGov

The information comes from agency YouGov that daily interviews over 5,000 people about more than 1,100 brands present in the U.S. Samsung campaign now give the results but foresee that in the near future we will see some commercials that Apple will give us an answer Samsung.

It would not be excluded to see ads like Mac vs PC but against to the Android OS and anyway Apple think the problem, the idea is that a campaign to promote iPhones would be beneficial right now.

Samsung may launch the first tablet Retina Display

Although the most analysts expect that Apple to come on the market with the first tablet equipped with Retina Display, those from Samsung might launch in February a tablet is equipped with a screen resolution of 2560×1600. Of course they will be able to name the Retina screen display that Apple has registered the name as a brand but if Apple will not be able to bring product to market ahead of the Samsung believe will have a lot to lose.

Leaving aside the primacy, it seems that Samsung would have it ready for a dual-core tablet that has a frequency of 2 GHz and not a quad-core as everyone expected. About the Apple tablet we don’t know only that you have an A6 processor but unfortunately we do not know what Apple will include it.

If we have a noteworthy display resolution then is expected to launch a quad-core processor to support it but would not be possible that Apple to include a faster dual-core processor and more efficiently managing energy. I hope that in the end users have to win no matter which of the two companies launched the first product of any kind.

Apple could buy some of the major manufacturers of mobile phones

Those from Asymco made from the above chart that shows the monetary reserves of Apple in comparison with the companies’ values that produce mobile phones. Apple has in present 82 billion dollars available in the accounts and if we exclude Samsung, Apple could buy the rest of mobile phone manufacturers and would be left about 20 billion dollars to invest on future. Basically Apple has enough money to buy only the mobile division of Samsung or HTC, Nokia, RIM, LG, Motorola Mobility and Sony Ericsson together.

In summary, in June Apple’s cash was about 53% of the sum of competing phone vendor enterprise values. Today it’s about 61%. Excluding Samsung, Apple could buy the industry and still have $25 billion left over. This makes the claim that “Apple could buy the industry” even more believable. This analysis is mainly academic.

Of course the above chart refers only to the value of mobile divisions of the respective companies and Apple if want it could eradicate, the competition but only if those companies would be desperate enough to leave them bought at those prices. Apple has an enormous money supply and yet does not have in what to invest the money, although it would require several new factories to produce many iDevice‘s enough to meet the market demand.

3 million of iPad 3 with high-resolution screen could be available for launch in 2012

The Apple partners already start to receive the future screens of iPad tablet and now we learn that three million of these screens will be ready for assembly in tablets in early 2012. The rumors coming from Asia and indicate that Samsung and LG have already shipped 1 million high-resolution displays to Apple, the other two million will be delivered by the end of next year. So far nobody knows what kind of resolution will have the screens but since it talks about it, there’s a chance that Apple to change the resolution of iPad 3 but not necessarily in the Retina Display.

Samsung Electronics, LG Display and Sharp reportedly shipped a total of one million units of high-resolution flat panels for next-generation iPads to Apple in October and will ramp up shipments to two million units in November, according to industry sources.

Recent rumors about iPad 3 launching gave as safe the implementation of a retina screen in the next tablet from Apple, of course, there is not 100% secure confirmations to support these theories. If Apple will change the resolution of the tablet, it is possible to find a way to grows with the number of pixels per inch but without a double. I think 2012 should bring an iPad tablet with a resolution better considering that most tablets and Android already offers this and Apple not.

Samsung re-design and re-launched Galaxy Tab 10.1 in Germany

Now more than a few months Apple has managed to obtain a prohibition on sales of tablet Galaxy Tab 10.1 in Germany and those from Samsung have been working lately to change product design.

In the picture above we have Galaxy Tab 10.1 tablet with the old and the new design up and down but the main differences are the color edge and shortening housing so it will not appear under the tablet sides. The new design brings a new name for the tablet that now can be found under the name Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1N in company stores in Germany.

In its intellectual property spat with Apple, Samsung proves resilient, perseverant, and courageous. If there ever was any doubt about those virtues (not on my part anyway), here’s the latest example: the Galaxy Tab 10.1 is once again available in Germany, despite a preliminary injunction that Apple won in early August and the Dusseldorf Regional Court confirmed in September.

It is interesting that the tablet is already available for purchase in Germany so Samsung has not stayed with Apple to see if the new product could be challenged in court or not. I guess that Apple will fight even with this new design but I’m curious how will managed to convince a court to block the new product sales in Germany.

2012 will bring even more lawsuits between Samsung and Apple

You have thinking that in 2012 Samsung and Apple will reconcile and will forget about the processes that are now on the role of courts across the globe? If so then you know that you cheated badly because Samsung is determined to act sued Apple in more countries next year.

The process will be based on the patents for 3G technologies, ones that some courts have said as part of standard FRAND. The first part of 2012 seems to be the time when Samsung plans to start, most lawsuits against Apple now remains to be seen how many of them will be successful.

Australia Federal Court Justice Annabelle Bennett today ordered that a trial on Samsung’s claims be held in March. Cupertino, California-based Apple had opposed an early trial, with its lawyer Stephen Burley saying the company needed more time to prepare the case and favored a hearing in August.

Unfortunately there was no way for users to benefit from these legal disputes that eventually will find a vendor that Android handset to have the courage to block sales of iDevice although Motorola hadn’t.

I hope that one day an Android handset manufacturer to ban the sales of iDevice in a particular country to give to Apple to understand that the issues with iDevices and OS are more important than “fighting” on patents.

Samsung requires the source code of iPhone 4S and the plan of grants of the operators from Australia

Seeing that has no chance to block sales of the iPhone 4S patents for technologies in telecommunications, Samsung now requires a court from Australia to force Apple to show them the source code of iPhone 4S as well as that Apple plan grants the operators agreed with the Australian . Basically Samsung wants to check the source code to see what iPhone 4S patents violate the Cupertino Company’s device and this is a sign that Samsung has not really what to attack Apple in court.

On the other hand seems exaggerated the application to view on subsidies offered contracts by Australian operators for iPhone. Samsung says the subsidies offered for the iPhone are so great that operators can not provide subsidies for smartphones Asian companies. From my point of view it shows the desperation of demand from poor sales on Samsung and their devices in Australia.

Operators can enter into contracts as they wish subsidies given that everything is done to increase sales the devices that have the greatest popularity among consumers. In Australia Apple managed to block the sales of Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 and is very likely that iPhone sales not to be blocked considering the applications from Samsung.

iPad 3 with Retina Display? Only if it will produce enough screens

Apple is testing the screens still from the last year for iPad 3 but at present their implementation in a tablet depends on Samsung and LG. Retina Display for iPad 3 would have a resolution of 2048×1536 and 264 pixels per inch, Apple practically doubling the resolution and pixel density.

Now Apple has such screens in tests on tablets but the problem is that Samsung and LG do not have a manufacturing system effectively enough to enable them to produce such screens in large quantities.

Those from CNET say that production of these screens should start in November of this year but now everything is on a theoretical level because Samsung and LG do not have a manufacturing process in place. Interesting is that these screens have a brightness of 550 nits to 350 which has a laptop, so we talk about major improvements from this point of view. T

hose from CNET say that the screens designed by Apple using a technological process used for the first time this kind of products and basically this is the problem. There would not be excluded to see Retina Display in iPad 3, but would not be excluded that Apple will continue with the same screen and same resolution.

Samsung could become the largest producer of smartphones in the world?

3 months ago Apple announced to amaze the whole world that has sold no less than 20 million smartphones in a single quarter. For Apple we talking then that were a record and thanks to Apple become the largest manufacturer of smartphones in the world surpassing the company Nokia for first time in history. A few days ago Apple announced that it sold 17.1 million smartphones last quarter and put sales appeared weak in mind rumors about a possible launch of iPhone 5.

Today we learn that Samsung would be shipped 20 million smartphones to its partners worldwide, the figure is 3 million units higher than for Apple. In theory this difference should rank as the largest producer Samsung smartphone in the world, right? The situation might be slightly different because the information did not actually say how many units sold but said it delivered 20 million to its partners. Given that both companies use different terms for cataloging these “sales” is really hard to say whether or not Samsung surpassed Apple.

The information is currently only estimates made by analysts Americans and we all know how well they guess what is expected to announce big companies now so Apple remains on the first place, a place you might lose it next week when Samsung will announce financial results.

How to install Android 2.3.3 on Samsung i9000 Galaxy S

For those who already have the Samsung i9000 Galaxy S, Android 2.2.2 comes with good news. From yesterday Android 2.3.3 has officially launched in Germany (and in some European countries). 2.3.3 version was installed by Kies, so in the official way. In Germany as I understand that the way of launch was chosen first 2.3.3 and in few weeks is following 2.3.4.

Disclaimer: The steps below are designed and tested by me. You are responsible for what you do on your phone; my advice is not the official one. For tips below I do not assume any responsibility.

Official installation steps on Android 2.3.3 for Samsung Galaxy S:

Download and install the latest version of Kies_2.0.0.11044_11_3.exe – 76 Mb.
Set the phone to Kies mode going to Applications-> Settings-> About Telephone-> USB Settings> Select Samusung Kies.
Connect your phone via USB to your computer where is installed Kies.
Internet should be switched on.
The new phone will appear in the top right, right click on it will display a notification that a new firmware is there.
You are prompted to save your contacts and then press Upgrade or Update.
Kies is downloading the latest firmware and automatically apply them.
The phone restarts (phone must be charged and should not be interrupted in this process).
After the restart you will have Android 2.3.3.

Manual installation steps on Android 2.3.3 for Samsung Galaxy S:

Read disclaimer above!
Disable if you have installed lagfix.
Root your phone (eg. with SuperOneClickRoot).
Install the Android Market Spoof FW.
Make a backup of all data from your phone even from FW Spoof!
Launch Spoof FW and set new ProductCode and PDA (ProductCode: GT-I9000HKDNEE, PDA: I9000XWJS8).
Perform a reboot.
Launch Spof FW and set CSC and Phone (CSC: I9000NEEJS1, Phone: I9000XXJQ1). Do not reboot!
Connect your phone with an USB cable to your PC and launch Kies 2.0.
Perform the steps to install the update using the above official instalation.
