Writing this article reminded me of promotions that some companies producing of games for iOS and Android it runs lately. Gameloft and EA Games have provided hundreds of games at a reduced price or even free, in some cases, for iOS platform in Android OS case things are much better. For the platform of Google, the big companies offer promotions much better and I say this because I’ve seen often games available for free on Android and available for a price in the App Store.

There is a very big difference between marketing strategy for the two platforms and at first glance it seems that the iDevice owners are provided “as bad” by these companies. When you offer some games at €0.79 on iOS but give them free Android you will take criticism on you. Unfortunately this did not happen only once but is a normal practice for major game development companies and I think in time they will have plenty to lose.

It is well known that Android handset owners do not really buy applications but owners of iDevice do, but for the different strategy between the two platforms I have another theory. Whether applications for Android are just so terrible that people would not give money on them or take advantage of available companies iDevice owners to buy applications. I do not think that applications for Android are really that bad that can not be sold, so I go on the idea that these companies profit from the fact that in the App Store is buying the applications and does not give too many free things.

Android Market from Google finally reached the figure of 10 billion downloads and Google decided to organize an interesting promotion for its users. It is well known that the owners of Android devices do not really buy applications for various reasons and those from Google have thought to motivate them by launching a promotion that brings applications with only $0.1 to users. Gameloft, EA Games, and many other manufacturers offer hundreds of applications for just $0.1 in the next 10 days and Android owners can thank those of Google for that.

To celebrate this milestone, we partnered with some of the Android developers who contributed to this milestone to make a bunch of great Android apps available at an amazing price. Starting today for the next 10 days, we’ll have a new set of awesome apps available each day for only 10 cents each.

When Apple has celebrated 10 billion downloads from App Store gave $ 10,000 to one person in place to hold a promotion like this and in my opinion the strategy was wrong. I think that Apple has more to gain if it offers less to more than if offers more to a single person. I hope that Apple learned something here and in future will act in the same way with this promotion because it has the resources to do so and would enjoy tens of millions of iDevice owners.

You all know that Apple is “allergic” to jailbreak and any references made to this method of “liberation” of iDevice not found in applications from the App Store. Well fair is “not found” as of 25 October in the App Store application that gives users there is a feeling that can do jailbreak our devices. The application is called suggestive Jailbreak and description text starts with a very suggestive that leaves room for interpretation:

Jailbreak for all iPhones, iPods Touch & iPads. Let’s do it right now!

● Support of all firmwares from 3.0 to 5.0
(5.0, 4.3.5, 4.3.4, 4.3.3, 4.3.2, 4.3.1, 4.3, 4.2.1, 4.1, 4.0.2, 4.0.1, 4.0, 3.1.3, 3.1.2, 3.1, 3.0.1, 3.0)

● Support of all iPhones
(iPhone 4S, iPhone 4, iPhone 3GS, iPhone 3G, iPhone Original)

● Support of all iPads WIFI+3G and WIFI only
(iPad 1, iPad 2)

● Support of all iPod Touch
(iPod Touch 1G, iPod Touch 2G, iPod Touch 3G and iPod Touch 4G)

For me it is clear that the application does jailbreak, but only for those who have taken an iDevice how clear it is? The application itself is just a game but cost €7.99 and the game itself is not really that great and certainly not worth that amount. I do not understand why Apple let this kind of applications in App Store also knowing that users can be seriously misled by the application description. If you encounter the Jailbreak application in App Store ignore it because it is absolutely useless.

MSI company has a long tradition in the production of graphics and has recently been thought to give iPhone owners the possibility to make overclock of their graphics directly from an iDevice. The company launched in the App Store the application Afterburner that connects to the computer users and allows them to change the graphics card settings. We are talking about very thorough calibration voltages, frequencies graphic chip, the fan speed, almost all important settings.

This iOS overclocking utility “Afterburner APP” was co-developed by MSI and well-known software programmer Nick Connors. This new Afterburner utility allows the iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad devices to adjust or monitor MSI Afterburner settings on PC over a Wi-Fi connection.

Those from MSI say that the application should work for any graphics card but only for those manufactured by the company we will have a list of options. The application for iOS comes at several months away launched in the Android Market but the MSI’s intention is laudable. The application for iOS works in tandem with one for your computer that you can download and which theoretically should work on Mac and recognize your graphics smoothly clump.

WhatsAppMessenger is one of the most popular applications from App Store, being in a few months on the first places among the most purchased applications. Users love the application as it allows them to send text messages to any other owner of the iDevice owners but handsets with other operating systems installed.

The mobile messaging market is moving, choices around platforms and their pricing and how they provide an amazing customer experience are the hot topics at hand. As a leader in the messaging space and with our network now handling over one billion messages a day, we see that the power is with the consumer.

The application is popular worldwide and currently more than 1 billion messages are sent every day using the corporate network developer, is truly impressive figure considering that we are talking about an application that costs only € 0.79 and competing with iMesage.

I thought iMessage it would be left forgotten WhatsAppMessenger application but users still use it here and even more than usual so its developers have nothing to fear that soon will no longer be an option worthy of consideration.
