Nvidia Tegra 3 is the new quad-core chip that will be implemented in tablets to be launched later this year but next year too. We talk about a chip that should theoretically be the most powerful on the market but not in all respects, as it is shown in the picture above.

The graphics chip from Nvidia Tegra 3 was tested using benchmark GLBenchmark and notice that is weaker than the graphics chip implemented by Apple in iPad 2 and iPhone 4S this year. The difference is very high, even compared to the iPhone 4S, so great that it makes me think that something could be in the middle.

Nvidia Tegra 3 has a graphics chip produced by Nvidia and an A5 chip that has a dual-core GPU PowerVR 543MP2 and results from the above picture demonstrates practical supremacy chip made by Apple. The tests GLBenchmark were made at 1280×720 resolutions with both models of chips and the performance difference could have two explanations: either platform Tegra 3 is indeed weaker or the chip from Tegra 3 is not yet 100% optimized or GLBenchmark not recognize it.

The above results were obtained from Lenovo LePad K2 tablet, a tablet in the process of development so that the results to improve should double to overcome iPad 2. In the process it is clear that a quad-core will be more powerful than a dual-core, now remains to be seen and how much difference will matter in real life.
