Although Google has built a great challenge in the market for mobile operating systems by introducing Android, a leader is still, Symbian was probably due primarily partnership with Nokia. However, the rise of new rivals appear to be so rapid that it is likely soon to have a different ranking. One of the suitors “the shadow” of the top spot promises to be none other than Windows Mobile 7.
This is one of the first questions that you ask a person who bought a Windows Mobile phone. To come to their help, I made a list of the most famous sites in the field. Order they are presented is the order in which I recommend to visit.

1. XDA-Developers
It is the largest community of developers and users Windows Mobile. Find here applications, skins, ROMs and information for almost all (maybe all) Windows Mobile handsets. All applications are available free (you can make a donation if you want and appreciate a particular application).

2. Freeware Pocket PC
Collection of free applications for Windows Mobile, organized in categories and very easy to use. I wrote about them when they released the official application that allows browsing and installing applications on your phone.

3. Marketplace for Mobile
Marketplace Microsoft official site. It was released much later than was the case and the number of applications is quite small. The fact that we live in Romania brings another disadvantage, not being able to buy applications. Worth a look and free applications here, even if XDA and PPC Freeware are much better in this respect.

4. HTC Club
If you prefer a Romanian community, you can try HTC Club. Number of members is quite small, but there are certainly some applications and will find someone to answer your questions.

About these would be sites for free applications. If you search the net you will find plenty of sites with applications, most clones of the above. In terms of applications for money, the situation is slightly complicated and you have one option: to buy them directly from the vendor’s site.

Few are those who do not know what it is and not using Windows Live Writer, the most popular desktop blogging client, the Microsoft brand. In fact, WLW is the only blogging client that supports multiple platforms (all of blogging …) such as WordPress site, Blogspot site (or Blogger), Live Journal etc.

For “moving” of the blogging client we have very good news, considering that recently, at the request of Microsoft Czech Republic, people from CodePlex (Open Source Community) have launched the Beta version of Windows Live Writer for Windows Mobile . This version is compatible with Windows Mobile 6 or newer versions, and although it is currently, given the status of Beta, only supports English and Czech language.

Microsoft My Phone is a free application for Windows Mobile that helps you keep your data from your mobile phone (pictures, messages, music, videos, contacts, etc..) in your My phone account, which can be accessed via computer or simply by the phone.

Also, the mobile phone will be synchronized with your computer so you can manage information / data from them directly on site using your computer myphone.microsoft.com.

ArkSwitch is one and the most suitable application for task management on mobile phones with Windows Mobile operating system. This application provides a complete management of applications and help you optimize the phone’s operating system.

ArkSwitch application was designed specifically for WM6.5.3, but it can also be used on smartphones with WM 6.5. The only problem is the lack of application in WM 6.5 application launch button at the top of the home screen. Who will install this application will need to click on the left free area on the top of the screen to launch the application.

Occupant first place, Spb Pocket Plus can not be described as a product, but more like a suite of programs designed to increase the productivity of working with a Pocket PC. The latest version, 4.0 brings a Today screen plugin for creating tabs with shortcuts to installed programs and useful information, additional features for Internet Explorer and File Explorer, task manager close button for applications running smart battery indicator on the homepage and scrolling (scroll-style iPhone).
