Tips for saving and prolonging battery life for Windows mobile users

In this article we’ll try to present some tips for saving your mobile phone battery. By appliyng these indications you can extend the life of the battery:

- If you have a phone with Wi-Fi connection close when no longer used. Most people forget the connection open after using it.
- The above advice applies if you forget your Bluetooth connection on.
- Always turn off 3G when not in use, use it only when needed.
- Try to use function “vibration” as rare as it uses a lot of energy.
- Turn down the volume keys and ring tones as much when you are in a peaceful environment.
- Reduce as much brightness. The phone uses enough energy to light, especially in the visible touch-screen phones (with large screens).
- Some phones can be programmed as X at Y time to stop lighting keyboard, ex.Samsung E250. Others can be programmed to stop vibration and ring tones in a certain time frame.
- Try to use a background as simple as animated backgrounds (*. Gif) uses more energy.
- Try to load the phone only when it discharged – this advice was particularly true for NiMH batteries, but it seems that newer Li-Ion have a longer life if charge/discharge cycle is observed.
- In the user’s phone, you will find the battery temperature limits functioning normally. Try, if possible, to respect (the phone will not feel good summer looked in the car, but no winter to below 0 degrees)
- If you are a gaming enthusiast phone remember one thing: you will reduce the period of stand-by, so do not be surprised when your battery will take far less than you used. Games use much CPU, along with the LCD are the largest consumers of energy from a phone.

HTC Titan brings Windows Phone 7.5 Mango

Lately, things on the market of smartphones and mobile operating systems have been clear as possible. I witnessed a bitter duel between Android (supported by nearly all phone manufacturers) and the iOS from Apple releases that we had more or less sound and most anticipated, the new devices, ambitious and powerful. Somewhere on this confrontation have tried to come to light and other models from Nokia or BlackBerry, but without much success.

But the world has forgotten Windows Phone devices? Very famous in the past, especially until the advent of Google desserts, smart phones out of the yard of Bill Gates began to gather dust and that’s all.

However, it seems that people from Microsoft are working on a long-awaited comeback and so is that with the new Windows Phone 7.5 Mango, slowly but surely starting to make their appearance and new terminals. First responders in the mission to resuscitate the smartphone market with Windows have been those from HTC Titan launching.

Phone name inspires size, the terminal is large, the display too and it fits in the category of the diagonals of 4.7 inches less common. Somewhat logical question would be: What’s to build a plasma Windows Phone 7.5 when the operating system currently only supports resolutions of 480 x 800 pixels? Where the idea that as more and more see less and worse than better? It is perfectly true that we are dealing with a splendid Super LCD which displays a black and convincing enough contrast and brightness is enviable, but what would you do with the shameful report of 199 pixels per inch, when most phones have 300ppi?

If we look at the specifications of the terminal, Scorpion 1.5 GHz processor, 205 adrenal graphics processor, 512 MB RAM, Wi-Fi, DLNA, 16GB memory, you rightly tempted to believe that you are dealing with a titanium in multimedia.

Basically the new version of Windows Phone 7.5 Mango should bring many improvements and fill some gaps or bugs present in previous releases. He managed a better integration of social networks, synchronizing contacts and messages from the phone with those of Facebook or Twitter. Another positive aspect would be easy implementation more or less success of the idea of multitasking. If we back button open applications will appear in the number of 6 and every new opening, the last of the list will be closed. Since Windows still talking about a terminal I find hilarious that he still discussed the semi-multitasking.

So, HTC Titan may be regarded as a somewhat exotic specimen. This phone needs updates closing and elimination of bugs, but still sold at a price equal to the most titled Android rival: about $600. Although Google has built a great challenge in the market for mobile operating systems by introducing Android, a leader is still, Symbian was probably due primarily partnership with Nokia. However, the rise of new rivals appear to be so rapid that it is likely soon to have a different ranking. One of the suitors “the shadow” of the top spot promises to be none other than Windows Mobile 7.
This is one of the first questions that you ask a person who bought a Windows Mobile phone. To come to their help, I made a list of the most famous sites in the field. Order they are presented is the order in which I recommend to visit.

1. XDA-Developers
It is the largest community of developers and users Windows Mobile. Find here applications, skins, ROMs and information for almost all (maybe all) Windows Mobile handsets. All applications are available free (you can make a donation if you want and appreciate a particular application).

2. Freeware Pocket PC
Collection of free applications for Windows Mobile, organized in categories and very easy to use. I wrote about them when they released the official application that allows browsing and installing applications on your phone.

3. Marketplace for Mobile
Marketplace Microsoft official site. It was released much later than was the case and the number of applications is quite small. The fact that we live in Romania brings another disadvantage, not being able to buy applications. Worth a look and free applications here, even if XDA and PPC Freeware are much better in this respect.

4. HTC Club
If you prefer a Romanian community, you can try HTC Club. Number of members is quite small, but there are certainly some applications and will find someone to answer your questions.

About these would be sites for free applications. If you search the net you will find plenty of sites with applications, most clones of the above. In terms of applications for money, the situation is slightly complicated and you have one option: to buy them directly from the vendor’s site.

Windows Mobile 7 – a few details

2010 promises to be a year rich in launches, and large companies have already begun a strategic war currently confined to the press conferences. It seems the market that counts and that will make major changes this year is that of communications.

Although Google has built a great challenge in the market for mobile operating systems by introducing Android, a leader is still, Symbian was probably due primarily partnership with Nokia. However, the rise of new rivals appear to be so rapid that it is likely soon to have a different ranking. One of the suitors “the shadow” of the top spot promises to be none other than Windows Mobile 7. Taking advantage of its competitors dull at Mobile World Congress held in February in Barcelona, Microsoft has kept headline with the announcement of their new operating system called Windows Mobile 7, the product will be launched in autumn this year.

What Windows Mobile 7 bring to us ?

It seems that the new operating system will have a graphical interface similar to the current Zune HD media player. GUI will support integration with X-Box game console, the Zune and will have facilities for interacting with social networks. The center includes six thematic People, Pictures, Games, Multimedia, Office Marketplace, and where the user can store and access content and allow connection to Xbox Live games retea.Microsoft wants more control to ensure that it can be used in optimal conditions .

“It’s a complete break from what has been done before, but from what is now, when everyone tries to copy Apple”, said a Microsoft official. Statement is extremely challenging and forces us to take a look at what is already known and so far about Windows Mobile 7 at a glance:
-Lack’s multi-tasking; applications running in the background will be suspended;
-Interface similar to that of the Zune HD with a few minor changes;
-Full integration with X-Box and Zune;
-Full support for connecting to social networks, Facebook and many applications of this kind;
-Exclusion Windows Mobile Device Center. Sync will be available only through Zune Software now;
-No support Flash. Here people from Adobe still analyzing the offer from Microsoft and remains to be seen what will happen;
I do not want to install applications on different media can be downloaded and installed them only on Market Place with the “Try before you buy”;
-It will be run old applications running on old operating systems WM 6, 6.1 and 6.5;
-No support for OEM interfaces. Conclude that Sense UI, SPB Mobile Shell Point UI, Infinity and many others will not be accepted.

Windows Live Writer for Windows Mobile

Few are those who do not know what it is and not using Windows Live Writer, the most popular desktop blogging client, the Microsoft brand. In fact, WLW is the only blogging client that supports multiple platforms (all of blogging …) such as WordPress site, Blogspot site (or Blogger), Live Journal etc.

For “moving” of the blogging client we have very good news, considering that recently, at the request of Microsoft Czech Republic, people from CodePlex (Open Source Community) have launched the Beta version of Windows Live Writer for Windows Mobile . This version is compatible with Windows Mobile 6 or newer versions, and although it is currently, given the status of Beta, only supports English and Czech language.

Opera Mobile for Windows Mobile

As is expected on a Windows Mobile phone is Internet Explorer the default Web browser. However there are a lot of browsers for the Windows Mobile platform, one that stands out Opera Mobile and Opera Mini. The first is a browser to copy the desktop version, so we have support for tabs and a powerful rendering engine.

Opera Mini is a client server version, where the user requested pages are first processed by a server, being served a much reduced scale version formatted for the screen phone.
